YumO!

When I was growing up our family had the tradition on Sundays to make a huge bowl of carmel popcorn and a pan of brownies. We would sit down and enjoy the treats while watching the Disney Special. Do you remember that.. The Disney Special. They always had such great movies. One of my many favorites was Pollyanna. I just LOVED that movie. Anyway, every now and again I make the treats for my kids -of course the brownies are an upgrade to my recipe- but it is now a fun treat for my kids to enjoy. We usually pop in a movie of our own or, just recently, enjoy it with some friends. Today I made it because I am going to a girls night that our ward is putting on. Hurray For Girls Night!!! It is a little goodbye night too because our ward got split and we are now in the Star 3rd ward. I am a little sad that I won't see some of my friends every week, but excited to meet more people.

I figured that I posted my brownie recipe that I would post this Carmel corn recipe as well. You guys are just so lucky! This is my moms tried and true Carmel Corn and I love it so much that I have never changed it.

Carmel Corn

Large bowl of popped popcorn- I really like white popcorn better than yellow, but it is just a personal preference
1 cube Butter 1 cup Brown Sugar ¼ cup Corn Syrup
¼ tsp. Vanilla ¼ tsp Baking Soda

In a sauce pan, bring butter, brown sugar, and corn syrup to a rolling boil. Remove from heat and pour in vanilla and baking soda. Stir until it turns fluffy and golden brown. Pour over a large bowl of popcorn and mix together. Let cool and eat. *If you would like to have it not sticky then bake it in the oven at 250 degrees, stirring the popcorn every 10 minutes. It usually takes about 30 minutes to bake.

6 who want to talk about it:

I miss Sundays back at the Pleasants house!! If there is one memory I want to keep forever it is of all of us Davenport kids eating browies, milk and carmel popcorn while watching Disney or America's Funniest Home Videos! That was the good life!

It's funny that you mention the Disney Specail as John and I were just talking the other night about when they did the Hallmark after school specials and they always had a wholesome message but we sadly joked that the world was becoming too "good" so they had to take all the wholesome stuff off of TV and start corrupting people with the terrible TV we now have! Funny but not! I miss the good ol' days! Remeber the muppets too!

A girls night sounds like a lot of fun. One time our bishop let us sleep over at the church. There must have been 50 + ladies there. We laughed so hard and didn't get any sleep at all. Our ward was being divided and it was the one and only sleep over they ever let someone have due to liability issues. It was so much fun. I hope you had a great time. Thanks for sharing the recipe. Did Robert get called to Primary again?

Brittany Cooper

I couldn't stop eating last night!! it was fabulous!!!!

I was wondering who's yummy popcorn that was. Thanks for sharing the recipe. It was a very fun night. The next one is on April 24. Come, even though you won't be in our ward. We would love to see you!!
