My sister, Sara, was 'interviewed' on her blog and she interviewed me by emailing some questions for me to answer on my blog. This isn't an ordinary tag but is fun for anyone who wants to play along. This way you are answering more unique for you questions rather than the generic. Here are the questions she asked me:
1. Tell us about what your ideal craft room would have--supplies, layout, colors!
I was viewing a home in the parade of homes a few years ago and I came across my ideal craft room. It was beautiful! It was the size of a normal bedroom and along the two far walls were desks. One had a sewing station on it and the other was set up for scrapbooking. It had shelving and drawers like no mans business. It had a place for a computer and a place for my Cricut. In the middle of the room was a tall island. Within the island there was drawers and rulers and all sorts of toys. There was an easel in one corner and in the other was a sewing manikin. I was in heaven when I walked into that room. -I think my father in law has a picture of it. if he does then I will post it later.
2. You are a great cook, chef really; what is your favorite dish to prepare?
I have so much that I love to cook. It is really what I am in the mood far. Right now I am getting ready to make enchiladas, so Mexican is what is on my mind. Last week it was pastas. What I really love most about cooking is having people love what I make. I am making a recipe book of my family’s favorite meals if anyone is interested in that info… I don’t know when it will be done and I have a lot to update in it.
3. What is your most defining moment in life? (When did you stop and say, "This is who I want to be")
I don’t’ know if I have ever had just one moment that really made my life. I never remember a time when I didn’t want to be a mom and it was in High School that I knew I wanted to be a cosmetologist. I guess until I met Robert I was undecided on my future. When Robert proposed I was like “He’s a great guy and will make a good husband/father and of course Mom and Dad loved him;”so I said yes. But, when I went through the temple to take out my own endowments that is when I knew that he was the man Heavenly Father wanted me to marry. He was walking up the steps and I was at the top and it hit me like gust of wind. That one moment was the most amazing experience in my life and I knew that Heavenly Father loved me and that I was doing the right thing.
Another one that has been on my mind for the last few weeks happened almost 7 years ago. It was on our 7th anniversary and we decided to make it a family day. We took the kids on a bike ride, picnic, and swimming. On the way home from swimming Kyle had a horrible bike accident. He ran into Robert and Robert’s front tire ripped through Kyle’s ankle. It nicked his tendon and came super close to his artery. I was so afraid of losing him. He healed up nicely and has an awesome battle scar, but at the time the doctors said that he was a lucky kid and it was a close call. I knew that luck had nothing to do with it. For at least a month I was a mess. I couldn’t go through a day without crying. During that time Robert and I went to the temple and again I had such an amazing experience. I felt that Heavenly Father knew and loved Kyle and that he still had a great plan for him and he would protect him, so to see him grow and in 2 days get baptized is such a great thing. I learned that my kids are so precious and it would be devastating not to have one of them with us.
4. You have created some amazing pieces of art. What piece is your favorite and who/what inspired you?
I really do enjoy painting. It is a great “breathing” tool for me. I don’t think I have one favorite, but I really like MacKenzie Thorpe. His idea of not painting faces on a lot of his paintings because he wanted you to envision yourself in the painting has really stuck with me. I painted a piece for a RS lesson that was a dream that a latter day prophet had. (I think I gave it to mom) It was similar to the tree of life. When I painted the picture it struck me that I didn’t want to put a face on the people because we all should be striving to be there and picture our own faces on it. I also really like my SLC Temple picture. I can’t really claim it as my own because it was a picture that I received as a gift and I just got tired of looking at it in black and white, so I painted on it. So, the temple isn’t mine, but the surrounding is. I am in the process of making my own SLC temple painting, so that I can claim it all to be mine. I will let you all know when I am finished. –right now it is just in the sketching stage, so it might be a little while-
5. If the world were yours where would your first three destinations you would explore?
I love history, so my first would be to the East coast and see everything that has to do with our countries history. Then I would go on a church history adventure. After that I would go to Europe. Paris, Italy, Rome… I love the history and the beauty that is over there too.
