Independence Weekend

Once again I have been chastised for not blogging enough... Sometimes I just don't have anything to say. Can I help that I am boring? Well, I guess maybe I can, but that's no the point. :o)

We had a great 4th of July. Living up here in the foothills is so much fun, but I did find one sad thing about it. We can't let off fireworks! It is too much of a fire hazard so fireworks were a no go in our driveway, so we loaded up the kids and headed for the top of the hill to watch the valley's. Not all that exciting, but the kids had fun running around until midnight.
Friday afternoon we took off to meet Grandpa and Grandma Mortensen at Eagle Island. We had a great time. It wasn't crowded at all and the water felt really nice. The kids had a blast and even baby Claire was all for the water even thought you couldn't see the bottom. We built sand castles and Robert took a few of the kids on a bird walk. We ate a few snacks and played on the play set. Then loaded up and came home. It was a nice little afternoon.

Ok, so I am totally busted. I know that fireworks are a huge no no up here, but honestly, are sparkles really fireworks? And I needed the pictures! (I am in charge of the July page for my scrapbooking night) The kids enjoyed spelling out their names and Claire loved spinning around in circles with it.

We went to RC Willey for lunch with Robert. They were serving free hotdogs, so we totally scored. After seeing Daddy we ran a few errands and while we were out I got the kids some butterfly nets. When dad got home he took them out and caught a few different butterflies. We "put them to sleep" so that Daddy could pin them to a board and look up what type of butterflies they caught. They are having great adventures with those nets.
Ok, so that was our weekend and my update. I will try not to be a slacker and post more. :o)
