2010 Adventure #9

We had so much fun with our Friends, the Talbots. We went to their family's cabin which is just outside of Cascade last weekend. I think the best part of the cabin (besides that the kids had a huge slumber party up in the loft all weekend) was the ginormous swing. It was so awesome! We were all brave enough to go on it although one not from the highest point of take off. Even Claire was begging to be taken on it. (She would ride on our laps... SCARY!!)
Kyle- trying to get up the nerve to go off the top
Anne- she was the first of us all to take the plunge. What a dare devil!
Victoria- She final did it!
Claire- Check out the fear on her face! After this first round, she couldn't wait to do it again and again and again.
I'm so brave! I'm so brave! I'm so brave (my internal dialog)
Robert- climbing to the fear. (I really put this picture on for you to look at the kid on the right. Ha Ha! zoom in and check out what his shirt says. Too Funny!)
Breath through it Robert!
When Robert is nervous/scared he has the funniest Whoo Hoo Hooing sound

We also went on a hike and looked for Huckleberries. The location was beautiful, but unfortunately, the berries were few.

all the kids on the hunt for Huckleberries
We took the kids up to cascade to go swimming. They had so much fun in that cold cold water. We set up base by a golf course, so the kids hunted the beach for golf balls. I am pretty sure all of them found at least one.
I love this picture of Claire playing in the water
All this kids running to the water- Notice the mountain on Fire. We had a lot of helicopters flying over with water buckets.
These two are good friends. We were saying how similar they look and then when they both came together with the same swimsuit on we started calling them our twins. We even went and put a bandage on Claire for the picture.

And of course, Robert couldn't go without birding, so him and Daddy Talbot went birding a lot. They did find at least one lifer. A Pileated Woodpecker and a Least Fly Catcher.
This is me with s few kids waiting for our birders to come back and make breakfast. I had the "twins" up to see them coming.
The dads also took some of the kids fishing while us moms relaxed in peace while "watching" the other kids watch TV.
The little ones loved running up and down the ruts in the road on their way to the fishing hole
Kyle caught the biggest fish and he came home and cooked it.
Claire was so tired she crashed right on the grassy beach
Here are a few more highlights of our weekend
Daddy and Claire laughing at all the crazy faces of the kids as they come off the swing
Claire playing mommy with Baby Talbot.
The Pig tale Club! -I was an ornery member-
Our two Kyles (well really Kyle and Kylie) Can you tell who is more willing for the picture.
Thank you so much, Talbots, for inviting us. We had a blast!

2 who want to talk about it:

Marilyn Lewis

I love the Talbots and the Mortensens. You all have the cutest kids. Did your Kyle feel like the odd man out? I wish I had gotten to know you better before we moved. By the way Jessica, I say 'check out the look of fear' on your face on the big swing!

Kent and Wendy

That swing looks like so much fun! I love the twin look-alikes!
