The kids had all of November off for track break. We were planning on moving, but our move got postponed, so we did the next best thing... We went and saw our cousins in California!
Robert left for work on the 15th and I loaded up the kids on the 17th and headed to Utah. We left Utah on the 20th and spent a week in California. Below is our pictured adventure.
We got to Grandma's house Wednesday night and on Thursday we went out...
| I took the kids into SLC on the Trax train. They thought that was so cool. |
| Temple Square has a new center about the building of the SLC temple. It was really cool. |
| You also get to see a replica of what is inside. |
| They were setting up for Christmas. I just loved all the lights and nativity scene |
| You can't go to SLC without taking a picture with the Christ statue. Unfortunately Claire has become really stubborn and won't stand or pictures. This was her stance the entire trip.-just in case you notice she isn't in hardly any of our pictures. |
| Salt Lake Temple- I just love this place |
Friday we went to My sister's house for the weekend and played with cousins. Sorry no pictures of that.
| Because of a big storm, we headed to CA a day early and stayed in St. George. It was a really scary drive and one I wish not to repeat alone ever again. The hotel had breakfast in their Victoria room. -side note, if you ever stay in St. George I highly recommend staying that the Best Western Abby Inn. It was so great. I love the beds and the kids loved the breakfast.- |
We made it into California on Monday and started our loads of fun the following day...
| We took the kids to Knott's Berry Farm. |
| Claire is such a thrill seeker. Even though she was too little to go on the big rides she still lived it up. |
| This is me, Kyle, Abby, and Anne at the top of this killer ride. Just before we went up Kyle asks if he can get off. I laughed and said it was too late now. He screamed like a girl louder than I have ever heard a girl scream. Abby and Anne both looked over at him and laughed. |
| After the ride we all had happy faces and Kyle was up for going again, but we never made it back there. |
| Abby, Anne and Kyle |
| Travis and Wyatt |
| Claire was with me. She also was imitating everything that Anne was doing in front of us. |
| Kristi, Savannah, and Victoria |
| Claire was pooped. Travis took the old 3 kids on a Ghost ride that scared them to death. It was dark so they had no way of knowing when the ride was about to drop. I think that was Kyle's favorite. |
On Wednesday we took the kids to the Pacific Ocean Aquarium...
| Anne loved the seals |
| Kyle got this bird to copy his moves and all the kids joined in. |
| He also got one to climb onto his arm. Can you tell we are a bird family? |
| Claire leaning over to try and touch the sea creatures. I believe they were sting rays in this one |
| Kyle staring down a HUGE fish |
| This shark had Claire jumping back. |
| They had awesome jelly fish tanks |
| Can you spot the fishes? They are called rock fish and there are 2 in there. |
| This scuba person was having fun with Victoria |
| At the end of the day we took a walk. |
| Travis and the kids ran up this hill to the lighthouse and rolled back down. |
Robert flew into California Wednesday night. We spend Thursday and Friday with Our cousins for Thanksgiving. My cousin Ashley hosted and she did a great job. Friday night Robert got to go on a little "adventure" of his own with my cousin, Travis. It made him think of changing professions...
We headed toward San Francisco on Saturday, but changed our plans and went to Sacramento for the night. Sunday we drove straight home. We have clear skies the entire was home, so we we very grateful for that.
I never thought I would be brave enough to handle such a big adventure on my own, but I DID IT! And if the weather was better, I would love to do it again. We loved spending time with all of our cousins and I think my kids found some new kindred spirits.
2 who want to talk about it:
What a fun trip - you were brave to do it alone for the most part!
I am soo happy you were able to come and stay. It was so fun! I was asking the kids what the best things about this year were and having their cousins come stay was at the top of the list!
