It is kind of hard for me to watch my kids' innocent view on the world be shattered. Every week for school Kyle has to fill out a currant event form. He has learned to get onto the internet and search for an awesome news article that will win him the most votes in class. Last night he was so excited to share his newest find. It was an article on how cocaine dealers are smuggling cocaine into the country in diapers. The article used the word coke and Kyle thought it was totally crazy that they would be smuggling in soda pop. His poor Innocence shattered in a brief second! After a little clarification on the use of the word coke he settle on this article.
On a little side note... I was asked to speak in church this Sunday on what the Easter season means to me. The ideas have been coming as to what I want to say (mostly at night as I lay in bed trying to sleep), but last night I received a call saying that my grandma had passed away. It was a little bit of a surprise. She just got home from the hospital and was doing really well. I just saw her 2 days before. My talk's focus has changed a little bit. Life is a beautiful gift and death can come so quickly. Is it really worth holding on to silly issues that seem so important now, but are they really that big of a deal? What about those who hurt your feelings? Is Christ's sacrifice not good enough for those who offended you? Because that is what you are saying. If I can't learn to forgive and love unconditionally then it is like I am telling Christ that I want to use the atonement, but there is no way it can be used for so and so who hurt my feelings.
I am so thankful that death is not the end. That Christ was resurrected and lives again. That we too, if we follow him, can live again. I love my grandma dearly and am so thankful for the recent moments, talking, and just being silly that I had with her. I look forward to the day that we meet again.

2 who want to talk about it:
Jessica, I'm so sorry to hear about your Grandma. My Grandma passed away when I was in high school and I still miss her so much. I am so grateful for the atonement and for temple ordinances that allow us to be families forever.
Thank you for sharing your thoughts on the atonement. I really like the way you point out that it applies to everyone, even those who may have hurt us in some way. We must forgive everyone who "wrongs" us if we expect to be forgiven of our sins as well. Good luck on Sunday, I'm sure you'll do great!
What a sweet true post. Thank you. We are sorry to hear about your grandmother too. I think Easter now will be full of extra special tender feelings. Good luck with your talk- Wish we could be there to smile at you from the congregation.
Kathy
