Flower Paintings

In Church I used to teach the 11/12 year old valiant girls. It was a hard calling for me to do at first. I am not a real “kid” person. The girls were the typical preteen girls. They were always asking to play games and if I had treats. Eventually we grew on each other. I love those girls to pieces. They learned that I was there to be their teacher and example and I learned how to love them. I admire each one and all their different quirks. That calling helped me grow in so many ways. I feel like I concurred a few of my fears and together we grew. I challenged them to bare their testimonies in Sacrament meeting the following week and they all did it! Of course I couldn’t make them do with out doing it myself. The next Saturday I had them all over for a late night pizza party. We had a great time playing games, painting, and watching movies. The next Sunday I got released! WHAT!!! No! I am one who loves change, but I really fell in love with these girls. I still get to see them every Sunday because I am the Secretary in the Primary, so that is good, but I wanted to give them each something special from me. I decided that I wanted to paint each girl a picture, so I found out what their favorite colors were and have painted them each a flower for their birthdays. I have done 3 so far and I am excited to do the rest.

7 who want to talk about it:

Wow - I am impressed - you are quite the artist! When do you have time to do such things?

Isn't it always the way. Once you love your calling you get released. Time to grow in new areas. Your paintings are really beautiful.
