Somewhere Over the Rainbow

The wizard of Oz was our theme for this year!

We were driving to see our friends and family on Sunday and came across this bright and beautiful sight. It was so fitting for our theme this year.

We Started our Halloween weekend on Friday night at Grandma Wendy's house for Pumpkin carving with the Cousins.
While the parents take over the pumpkin carving (kids just give up after a while- what is up with that!), Grandma takes the kids over to make some crafts.

And Grandpa makes homemade donuts! Yum!!!
Saturday morning we headed over to Boo at the Zoo. Even though it was CROWDED, the kids had a good time.
Waiting for fingerprints

Victoria let us paint her face that morning, but wouldn't leave it on for the parties that night and wouldn't let us put more on her either.

Claire enjoyed the Giraffe slide on our way out.
Saturday night we went to the church for our annual ward chili cook off/ carnival and trunk or treat.
(Is is just me, or does trunk or treats make you a little grumpy too? It just totally bugs me when kids come running up and shove their bags in your face without even saying anything. And then you see the same stinking kid at least 3-4 times before you (I) finally say that I have seen them before and to scoot. What? They think that they can keep coming until they take all my candy? Don't they realize that there might be some little kids not as fast and rude that still would like to come and ask nicely for a piece of my candy? I saw a friend in the store the other day and we were talking about this. Her mom hates it too and think kids need to come up to the house and do it the right way. And you know what... I think I agree with her.-ok, my little rant is over) :o)

Claire wouldn't let me go. It was pretty busy all around us.

Our first attempt of a family picture. (bit of a failure- but I love Anne and Victoria's faces)
After the kids loaded up on a 3 ward Trunk or Treat we headed home to go to our neighbors Halloween Party. Their house was totally decked out. The kids had no fear (which surprised me) and we all had a great time.
After church we snagged our little Toto and went for a drive to show our friends and family our costumes.

Anne and "Toto" aka Polly. Isn't she a doll. She is our neighbors dog and Anne LOVES her. Anne is a frequent visitor to their home and often takes her on little walks.

This was our 4th attempt at a family picture and Claire finally turned and smiled!

Overall, this years Halloween was a success. With Dorothy and Toto, The Good Witch and the Bad Witch, a Flying Monkey, and the Munchkin Mayor and his wife we hope your Halloween was as haunting as ours.

See you again next year!

1 who want to talk about it:

Ben and Kim

I love your costumes! I totally wanted to copy the Peter Pan theme you did last year but with our move and other craziness I just didn't make it happen. You guys look awesome!
