Adding to the list + what's been happening around here

After church today I took the girls to my friend's house so they could see her kittens. Today Claire held one and when we got home her face had doubled in size! I called our neighbor (who is a pediatric ER doctor) to take a look and sure enough she had busted out in hives along with her swollen face. He was so kind to come over and I have to say it sure is great to have a friend like him a few houses down.
So now cats will be added to my long list of things Claire is allergic to. With this list speedily growing, I wouldn't be surprised if she ends up like me and being allergic to raw produce when she hits puberty. Poor girl. She isn't going to have any fun.
Last week while my sister and her family were here for a quick visit and Robert was in Ohio, Kyle started choking on a cheese stick. He couldn't get it out on his own so I had to jump in and do a little Heimlich action. It took us about a minute to get it out and I was really worried that I wasn't strong enough to help him so I had my sister go get her husband, but as soon and he turned the corner to help, we got it out. Now that was scary! I know he wasn't as close to death as he was when he had his bike accident, but I felt like it was almost as bad. I am glad that Mike was there to look after him and make sure he truly was okay afterwards because I was a little shaken up.
This past Thursday Victoria had an awful experience at school. The little boy sitting next to her leaned over and threw up on her lap! A friend of mine was in the hall and said that all the kids came out plugging their noses saying ewww! behind the teacher  who was holding her garbage can while the boy threw up and Victoria behind them about in tears with the mess on her. She was a trooper though. They called me to bring a change of clothes and that same friend who was in the hall came to pick me up (thanks again Laura for helping me). By the time I got there she had a big grin on her face. The experience was yucky, but she was loving the attention, so she wasn't too traumatized by it.
Today was our primary program. The kids all did great. They wrote their own parts and all remembered their lines. The primary presidency had each child share their testimony on a certain subject so all the kids did a great job.
Claire-Heavenly Father is our dad in Heaven. He wants us to read our scriptures in our homes on earth. (but she ended up say in our homes and on our earth)
Victoria- I love my family because they help me and protect me.
Anne-I always try to follow the golden rule. Treat others like you want to be treated. Jesus was a great example of that rule.
Kyle- I felt the spirit when my sister Anne got baptized. I gave a talk about the Holy Ghost. The holy Ghost told me that what I said in my talk was true.
They all did great in singing and even Claire belted out the songs... That is until she had had enough and started pouting and headed for the stairs. Oh Sunbeams! You gotta love em!

3 who want to talk about it:

O gross! I am surprised Toria didn't puke right along with him. I know I would have... ugh.
I think programs where the kids write their own stuff have been my most spiritual ones to watch/help with. The others are great but I love to hear their own personalities in what has been said.

That's too bad Claire has such bad allergies. :/ I was happy to help on Thursday. :) So sad we missed the primary program. We had Dan's brother's mission homecoming.

the mortensen's

hilarious! I threw up in my mouth a little just thinking about getting puked on. SICK!
