Camping with the Fam

We took the kids up for a quick camping trip for some much needed family alone time. We went up to a campground called Monte Cristo here in UT. With school just stating that week and a week before Labor Day weekend, we had easy pickings for a spot. We choose one close to the potty (a must) and right across for a beautiful patch of flowers.
These flowers were about 5 feet high in a little patch across the street of out site.
While Robert and I set up camp the kids went out hunting for kindling. (we forgot our wood on our back patio) Instead of bringing the sticks she found, Anne started building a little hideout.
Anne's hideout- just down the hill from our site
Lucky for us, Kyle and Victoria took the job seriously, so we were able to start a fire and have some yummy grub.
Before dinner we went on a little walk and while we were out...
Victoria got a little one on one time with Daddy-o
Claire was stopping to smell all the pretty flowers
We found a beautiful trail among the Aspen Trees
This is what I love seeing! My kids laughing  and enjoying each .other
Huge logs to jump off of (with a little encouragement from out hero)
Claire skipping down the road
A huge mushroom the size of plate. That we squished... I sure hope it wasn't a smurf home.
Once back at camp Kyle was put in charge of starting our fire. For dinner we made tinfoil dinners and they were yummy! While we waited for them to cook we played games.
Our master fire starter even did it with just one match!
Anne waiting for the cards to be set up
Victoria posing like a teapot
Claire enjoying her water and snack
Once we were finished with dinner and in our pj's we finished the night off with smores and scary stories.

Dad doing what he does and Anne trying to see what was all the fuss about
The next morning while we made ziplock omelets the kids were busy trying to catch the chipmunk. They never succeeded the night before so they upped the loot and put last nights smore leftovers under the tub. And it almost worked, but was foiled by a hawk who swooped down to snatch OUR chipmunk!
On our way home we stopped by a lake and went swimming. The water was cold, but the kids had a great time.
Our Family R&R was a huge success and hopefully we won't wait until the end of next years summer to do it again.

How awesome! I love ziploc omelets too! :) Your family is so cute! Glad you didn't attract any BEARS with that chipmunk trap.
