Pillows, Gloves, & Trees (and a D.I. find)

I have been waiting to post a picture of the Poinsettia pillows for about a week now because a friend of mine had a birthday yesterday and I made one for her and one for me. Now that she has hers, I can post the picture.
Poinsettia pillows front and back
I saw the idea at my Cousin's home while I was there for a little party. She showed us hers and my friend and I both loved them so that is why I dashed down to her home again last week and took another peek at it so I could duplicate them for myself and my friend.

I was at a craft bizarre a few months back and saw some really fun hobo gloves. She wanted $18 for them and so I took a good look, went to the D.I. for some $3 sweaters, and here is my version of the hobo gloves.
the picture isn't that great, but Robert was out being a lumber jack with the rest of the stake priesthood, so I had to enlist the kids to take the picture
This was my first attempt. I think I will make a few changes to them. They we SOOO easy (and fun) to make. The kids are already letting me know what colors they would like.

I saw this idea from none other than Martha Stewart and thought it would be a great idea to add to my Advent Calendar. It was really easy and the entire family really got into to making theirs unique. -do you like my little Christmas birdie? She has a poinsettia carved onto her side-
Mortensen Family's Newspaper Trees
You basically take 500 sheets of newspaper ranging from the size of 6 inches to 1 1/2 inches and stack them on a 10 inch skewer that is standing on a base. (we used my grandma's old knitting needles and cut foam balls in half). Spray it with adhesive and sprinkle glitter onto it. I choose silver, Robert did the multi colored bands, Kyle and Anne choose green (Anne wants to add cotton for a snow effect), and Victoria and Claire choose red.

I am so excited about this mirror I found during my last trip to D.I. Isn't it amazing! I am super excited to transform it into an even more stunning piece of art.
