1st Snow Fall= Snowball Fight!

Saturday we had our first snow fall this season. Weird that it happened so late, I know! They were predicting just a sciff, but when we woke up we got around 6 inches of good packing snow! YES!!!
Normally Saturday morning are filled with chores and then play, but with awesome snow like we had, how could we stay inside?
Can you believe he is almost 11! Where does that time go?
Anne received two tickets to the Beauty and Beast 3D premier in Salt Lake that morning, so she and I were getting ready for that when Robert and Kyle set out to clear the drive way.
What a Stud!
After clearing the drive way they decided to build a snow tunnel between our trees and then arching onto our lawn. It would be a big project, but they were excited.
Once the two little girls saw Dad and Kyle out there, they had to jump into their snow gear and join the fun.
(well, be in the middle of it is probably more like it. )
As Anne and I were heading out the door I got a call from a friend who had another ticket that they weren't going to use and offered it to us, so we were able to take the little girls for a girls day out. (I am sure it was a relief to the boys too.) We had a great time at the movie and I was amazed at how far 3D has come sense we had to wear those silly blue and red glasses when I was younger. Claire kept saying woe because things were coming at her.
Once we got home, we learned that we missed a HUGE Snowball fight. The neighbors across the street built up a wall and then the neighbor kids came and joined in. After a bit our friends, the Novak's, came too. (I wish I could have seen that. I guess Jeff drove his truck over with a few boys hiding in the back for a sneak attack.) When I got home with the girls they had hot chocolate on the porch and were still throwing snowballs so we jumped in. (I went behind enemy lines and pegged them from behind. WaHaHa!!!)
with the snowball fight, the boys were never able to get their tunnel built. bummer... that would have been really cool.
I tried get as many of the group in the picture, but never did, so this is the "group" shot with all of our family in it. We had kids from six families participating while I was there. The mom in me jumped into action when I saw those silly teenagers not wearing any gloves! Of course they wouldn't take our extra gloves... Oh no, they would rather freeze their hands off! Silly kids!
It finally wrapped up about 2 that afternoon and my hopes of having a clean house was outside dead, but a dirty house was totally worth it. It turned out to be so much fun that maybe we will make the first snow of the season be a snow fight day every year.

2 who want to talk about it:

What a Saturday! I didn't know it was originally going to be a snow tunnel. The snowball fight was a fun neighborhood event!

Melissa

Thanks for bringing the neighborhood together.
