Dear Claire

Has it really been five  years! I can remember vividly the doctor , while wheeling me into the OR, asking me if I still thought you were a boy and how big I thought you would be. And at that point all I told her was I didn't care any more what gender you were, but I want you to be chubby. CHUBBY you were! You were my biggest baby at 9lb. 6oz. Our doctor laughed so hard and came right over saying that I got my wish. That you were one of the chubbiest babies she had ever seen.
I also remember being wheeled through the airport three weeks later because we were moving to Idaho and people people seeing your bright strawberry hair and chubby cheeks and thinking you were 3 months not 3 weeks. You were such a good baby. You loved to snuggle and grinned at everyone. Which made everyone fall instantly in love with you.
However, when you became mobile, you were into everything. I wasn't used to a babe that did that because your sisters never did.You ate enough of my markers, applied enough of my mascara, and lipstick to turn yourself black on the inside, blackened eyes, and red all over the face.
You too have given us a few scares in your little life. We now know that Peanuts are a huge no no for you as well as not to allow dogs to give you kisses. Cat dander doesn't help your allergies either. We taught you to know the dangers of peanuts and when you were two and being babysat by my friend, I got a frantic call because she tried to give you a pb&j sandwich. You quickly grabbed your throat and started saying NO! Allergic! Allergic!
You can say the funniest things and it makes all around you laugh. Just this weekend we were out at Antelope Island and you saw a flock of Seagulls in the water and you said, "Hey look, They are at a family reunion!"
You are really excited to start school next year and I know you will do great. You love to learn and you are constantly surprising me with things like counting to 36 without a mistake or spelling our last name.
I am so excited to see you grow and mature into a beautiful young lady. I am so thankful to have you in our family. Your silliness brightens my days!

Happy Birthday my Sweet
